La Cina
About This Spot
Walking into La Cina, you’re greeted by an inviting, warmly lit space that feels like a well-kept neighborhood secret just outside Detroit’s bustling core. The atmosphere settles into a comfortable rhythm—unhurried yet lively enough to welcome families, friends, or couples seeking a genuine, grounded Mexican dining experience beyond the popular Mexicantown scene.
Here, the mood is relaxed and familiar, shaped by friendly faces behind the counter and the quiet hum of a neighborhood gathering spot. Soft lighting casts a cozy glow over rustic touches, while a unique fish tank behind the bar adds a calm, unexpected charm that invites conversation to flow naturally.
The menu mirrors this welcoming spirit, offering satisfying plates that balance authenticity with approachable flavors. Whether you’re savoring their careful take on classic enchiladas or sharing a round of freshly made margaritas crafted with evident care, each bite and sip unfolds like a small celebration of Mexican culinary traditions. Guests often find themselves lingering over signature items like chorizo tacos and rich queso dips, where the familiar comfort of fresh corn tortillas and house-made salsas elevate the experience.
La Cina strikes a lovely balance—casual and heartfelt rather than flashy—with a pace that encourages moments to linger. It’s a place where attentive, unpretentious service offers the kind of warmth that makes visiting feel like coming home to a good friend’s table. Here, the essence of a family restaurant isn’t just in the menu but in the way the space embraces you.

Best margaritas in the area, no question. Alan, about the nicest bartender you will ever meet, makes them by scratch. The chorizo tacos are terrific as is the botana. We have had numerous items on the menu and have never been disappointed. The service couldn’t be friendlier. Great little Mexican restaurant outside of Mexicantown.

Service was great, very pleased there. The food was good, I forgot to request enchiladas with corn tortillas so they tasted a bit tex-mex but it was ok, not spicy which in my opinion could be improved The place is overall good Something I really liked was their queso... That was better than anticipated to be honest

Food was solid. I got the tacos and I chose to only get one corn tortilla and the other two flour. The corn tortillas are waaaaay better than flour. Order corn tortillas here Service is friendly Atmosphere is great: the lights are dim, and they've got a fish tank behind the bar. Probably a good place for a date My only issue is price. 3 tacos with beans and rice, and chips & salsa was $19.08. A bit much. Other than that this place is decent

Premier. First visit and good first impression. Very friendly people work here. Food was good and filling and there’s all the standard Mexican choices. Full bar is nice. I think the new three sisters should be beans, rice and tequila. I’m definitely coming back. I think my favorite thing was the bartender bringing us margaritas!!
